The colony had about 100 members - most hanging upside down on the top of a couple of nearby trees, each about an arms length away from the other, the wings wrapped around them.
This was a mixed-sex summer colony - in winter, the colony will split into same-sex colonies.
These are quite large - unique to this country - and different to the micro-bats of Europe and America.
This fellow has unfurled its wings to cool down.
