Sigma APO Teleconverter 2 * EX DG - performance

The Sigma APO Teleconverter 2 * EX DG is a small lens extension which effectively doubles the lens zoom.  There are a couple of trade offs.  Nevertheless, if like me, you have standardized on the Sigma series, it is a quick way of doubling the number of lenses you own.

This page is for my own use - to compare and assess when I should use the doubler.  It is not a review.

The field of view and a summary of fully automatic camera choices within the same central sample point looks like:

150mm, ISO 125, 1/250 sec, f/5.0

Doubler  300mm, ISO 1600, 1/400 sec, f/13

500mm, ISO 3200, 1/400 sec. f/8.0

Doubler 1000mm, ISO 3200, 1/640, f/18
