Walhalla - Victorian Alps

The usual description of Odin's palace makes specific reference to the all night disco, as much alcohol as you can drink and superb pork dishes (with nice crackling).  It is a place full of warriors, valkyrie and gods.

When I visited the other Walhalla, in the alps north of Gippsland, I missed the parties.  In fact I didnt see another person, let alone a valkyrie or god.  Just a short train line, between two old mining stations, built for gold mining at the bottom of a magnificent gorge.

Walhalla Railway Station is accessible through a well built single lane road along a cliff face if you are prepared to risk the rock falls.
