Norma Rising - the Great Attractor

A pitch black night - with the air crisp after the recent rain.  A sad end to the week here in the mountains - a farm-house in the local area burnt down this week.

The constellation Norma (the carpenter's square - lower center) lies in the plane of the Milky Way.  Norma has started to rise in the South-Eastern evening sky.

Norma contains the "Great Attractor", a massive object pulling us all towards it at 600-1000 kilometers per second. We have a little while to go - it is 150-250 million light years away.
